Bio
I grew up in Virginia and have lived in South Carolina and Texas. In 2015, I moved to Greensboro for my job. I’m a graphic designer and mixed media artist specializing in abstract, loose and whimsical art. A graduate of Trident Technical College and receiving my B.A. in Visual Communications from the College of Charleston. I also work as a creative in the marketing department for a retail furniture company. I draw on both my intuition and educational background in my creative process. For me, art provides both a means of authentic self-expression and a source of peace amid life’s complexities. When not doing art, I am a mother to Mathew and cat Izzy, an outdoor girl, and supportive friend. Thanks for stopping by! -Tammy

Pigments and Papers: My Creative Arsenal
I create using various types of pigment and paper. I primarily work with watercolor, acrylic, gouache, pastels and alcohol ink. Paper types I use include tissue, teabag, deli, rice, copy, and tracing paper. I also use mineral paper made from stone, it’s a sustainable alternative to traditional paper that comes from trees. I particularly like the effects with alcohol ink, liquid acrylic and watercolor for smooth blending and vibrant colors.

Embracing the Unexpected
Monoprinting has enhanced my artistic approach and expanded my self-expression. Blending different mediums together adds an element of surprise with each impression. It gives me inspiration, and especially when facing the intimidation of staring at blank, empty canvas.
